Payroll Reporting by TMRS City Portal
The best way to report your monthly payroll to TMRS is to use the City Portal. To register for the City Portal, see note 2 on this page. Advantages to using the City Portal:
- You keep track of your own passwords (through your City Portal Administrator)
- You have fewer file transfer issues; Java errors are avoided
Payroll Reporting by Secure FTP
A secondary option, if you are not yet able to sign up for the City Portal, is to use TMRS’ secure FTP to file your monthly payroll report. You need a computer with an Internet connection and a recent version of Netscape or Internet Explorer with Java enabled to use this fast, secure method of uploading your data. You will also need a username and password and will need to set up your file in a specific file format.
User Name and Password
You will need a secure username and password to access TMRS Online Payroll Data Reporting. To obtain a username and password, fill out the For Secure FTP form, then sign and return it to TMRS. After we receive the form, an IT staff member will mail your username and password.
U-Upload Plug-in
When you log in to TMRS Payroll Reporting (login), you will be asked to authorize the download of a small piece of software called U-Upload. This is a web browser plug-in that allows you to upload to the FTP site. Authorizing the download will not make any other changes or do any harm to your computer.
Browser Issues
If you are using Internet Explorer and you encounter an error when you try to load the Payroll Reporting page, you may also need to ensure you have the latest version of the Java applet.
Files and Formats
After you enter your username and password, click on the Browse button to go to the file location, then click on the Send button to send the file to TMRS.
This file you are uploading can reside anywhere on your computer or network, and should be in the format specified in the File Format Instructions (IS-102). If you have been submitting payroll data to TMRS electronically, the format has not changed.
